Rammstein Summer Tour 2019

Many spectators at live concerts see rock band Rammstein as something like the Holy Grail. Leaving aside everything that could be said about the music, the band's live shows are as spectacular as anything you could see anywhere in the world, with an absolute barrage of special effects, lighting, audio and video, expanding and sometimes breaking the envelope. It's a 200% experience every time.

Peter Mckinsey of Qnetik B.V. asked Interal T.C. to weld up four massive lighting rigs to be raised to a great height over the stage using Stageco lifts. The audience would see these as 4 huge suns, lighting up and dimming.

Because of the way these "suns" were to be used on the tour they needed to be easily installed and taken apart in sections.

In the end it was decided to split each "sun" into four sections. All the profiles both straight and curved were provided with thousands of milled holes, connection blocks and the like. Each profile has to be carefully identified and its orientation checked. With each section consisting of several storeys our welders could be seen moving around the structure with their welding torches like rope access workers.

It was hugely gratifying that a number of our staff were invited to Rammstein's try-out evening in Gelsenkirchen: quite a reward for their efforts.
